How To Become A Filmmaker - My Story

Here is a bit of my story, my creative journey of taking a gut instinct and desire to work in media and turning into my life.

Here are some key ideas I talk about:

  • The spark to create is not a mistake. It’s something planned in you for your destiny. FOLLOW IT.

  • It’s ok to put some priorities on the back burner for other things to take priority.

  • Build your portfolio! There are a lot of people who would be happy to have you work for free to build your portfolio … and travel the world!

  • By the time I went to apply for these jobs, i had a SOLID portfolio, possibly quite different than if I had worked for a company for 3 years.

  • Constantly be learning! One tutorial a day keeps depression away. Momentum and ideas!

  • Carve your own path. If you’re trying to do life the exact way someone else did it …then you’re doing it the wrong way.

  • You decide that you are the filmmaker. It’s not a job description. it’s a CHOICE about what you will create with your life.
